We are back from our trip to London!  We had a lot of fun and the trip was great!

Here we are waiting at the airport.  Our flight left at night, so we were dressed in our pajamas.

We slept almost the entire flight, although we were still very tired when we got to London.  We relaxed and walked around Hampstead, our neighborhood, for the first afternoon.  Here we are on our first night in our flat, watching Cbeebies and insisting on wearing our rain boots.

Mar came over to say hello!  We loved her instantly.

Here is our neighborhood.  It was so charming!  Mommy and daddy could live here with us easily.  Mar lived only a few streets down, so we got to see her a lot.  Here we are about to go exploring on our first day!

We started with some pastries.  We get to have sweets on vacation.  We also love croissants.

There was a little park in our neighborhood, so we got to play at the playground with the other kids.

Monday we rode on the Underground, which we called the “train”.  We liked getting on it…until we got bored of riding it, and felt smooshed by all the people, and then we liked getting off!

We visited the Natural History Museum.  It was in the neatest old building, and we were both really impressed by all of the animal bones.  In fact, we often said “wooooowwww” in the museums.

Avery was asleep for the first half of this, but Aurelia really liked looking at everything.

We refreshed ourselves with a much needed brownie.  (Yes, mommy did make sure we had healthy food back at our flat.  Yogurt, peanut butter and fresh fruit every night, plus Cheerios, so we did not always eat junk food!)

We visited the famous Harrod’s shopping center.  The food hall was huge, and they had quite an impressive toy selection.

We had so much fun running around here.  And of course we were asking “peees peees peees”.

We visited King’s Cross Station, and the famous Platform 9 3/4.  It’s a beautiful station, and had a really great chocolate shop.

The next day mommy went to the Clothworker’s Center and got to look at 18th and 19th century clothes – yay!  We played with daddy and Mar until she was done, then we went to Westminster!

Beautiful day in London!  Here is parliament.

Westminster Abbey, where soooo many famous people are buried.  There was Poet’s Corner, where we saw the graves/memorials of Jane Austen, the Brontes, Chaucer, Shakespeare, and Mary Ann Evans (aka George Eliot).  We are sure we will like reading all of these authors when we are older.  Queen Elizabeth and many other monarchs are buried here (Edward the first, for example).  We also got to see the chair, known as King Edward’s Chair (named after Edward the Confessor and carved around 1300!), on which many monarchs have been crowned (the Stone of Scone was not there, though).

We had such a good time in London, and are such good international travelers!  We were glad to be home and see our toys and run around our house, though!

 

We had the best Christmas and New Year’s!  We got to go on a trip, and while we aren’t big fans of the car, we had so much fun experiencing new things that it made it all worth it!

After a long drive, we finally made it to Anaheim, where Papa and Omi were waiting for us!  We were a little confused about this at first, but we happily settled down to play with Omi in our hotel room.

We spent Christmas eve in California Adventure.  We had a lot of fun, and it wasn’t crowded at all!  The weather was nice, too.

We are so excited to start our day and go to Disneyland!

Unlike Christmas Eve in CA Adventure, Disneyland was very crowded!  They reached maximum capacity that day, which is about 65,000 people!

Lots of special treats for us today.  We got to have rice crispy treats in the shape of Mickey.

After leaving Disneyland we went to Coronado!  We had lots of fun walking around the Hotel Del and looking at the agua and the birds and the people.

Back home for us!  We got to go see auntie Denise and cousin Morgan.  And look what Morgan made for us!  We’ll have to wear them on our trip to London.

We also had our 18 month check up, finally.  Aurelia is about 20 lbs and Avery about 22.6 lbs, and we are both growing well.  We are happy and healthy!  We are also saying lots of new words, like “Nemo” (of course), “bubble”, “baby”, and we also can nod our heads “yes” now.  Avery’s favorite word is “hot”, which he says really well.  We say “up” a lot and “hi” and “bye bye” too!

We are now half way through our second year!  Here’s what we’ve been up to…

Fingerpainting with mom and dad!

Mom tried to mix in some veggies with Avery’s beans.  Looks like he noticed…

Avery’s first real hair cut!  Mom and dad were the barbers.  It took quite a bit of time, and there was a lot of writhing and wiggling and squirming, and mommy was afraid he would be bald by the end of it, but it turned out to be pretty cute!  He was not happy about getting pictures taken after the torture, however.

 

We had some nice warm days so we could go for walks with mommy!  We always look for doggies.  We also like to say “beep beep” when we see the cars, and we like riding over the crunchy leaves on the ground.  We always help mommy take the mail in, too.

One of daddy’s clients gave us a home made quilt!  We love the colors and patterns, as you can see.

Mommy made us a felt board.  We like it a lot, especially our fish that look like Nemo characters.  Aurelia’s favorite seems to be the red bear 🙂

Daddy had to work one Saturday, so mommy took us to see the Christmas lights.  Since we are leaving we aren’t decorating this year, but we really enjoyed all of the lights.  We especially liked the giant inflatable dog they had.  Avery also liked the train in the village.

New things: Avery is obsessed with vacuums!  He also likes to figure out how things work, and he likes to do it by himself!  Aurelia has started saying more words, like “turtle” and she tries to say “Love you” which comes out “aooo”.  We can say “up” and “apple” too.  If you ask Aurelia “How old are you?” she holds up one finger and says “Uno!”

We are very excited about the potty, and we love the potty book we got from the library.  We still love Nemo but will also watch Ratatouille, and we are getting excited about our Disneyland Christmas!  Mommy also caught us playing/communicating with each other in the pack and play at night.  Aurelia will point to something and Avery will laugh, and vice versa. 🙂

We somehow keep getting cuter and our hair is getting longer!  Aurelia’s hair has grown a lot (you just can’t tell because she is so blonde).  Mom can almost put a clip in her hair!

We have been trying out our new plates from Omi.  So far, one night we kept them on our high chair tray, one night we dumped them off.  We’ll see how things go tonight…

One night we decided to make dinner for mommy and daddy.  We put cheerios and raisins in our pot, and Avery liked to “taste” it, as you can see.  He even makes a slurping sound as he does it.

Mommy has noticed that Aurelia is getting really into her artwork (notice the tongue sticking out in the middle picture- a sign of intense concentration).

We had an amazing second Halloween!  It was also mommy’s birthday, and we all had an extra special day.

What did mommy ask for?  Well, first of all, you should know that we adore Finding Nemo.  We watch it every day.  Secondly, we love to climb on things, and the only thing we really love to do more than that is to push the buttons on the dvd player.  We make the movie stop, and then say “uh-oh” relentlessly until mommy finally comes over and makes it work again… just in time for us to push more buttons!  We think this is pretty funny, but mommy feels differently.  Also, mommy is afraid that we will climb on this entertainment center and hurt ourselves.

So to fix this problem, mommy asked for a big TV that we can put on the wall.  That way we can see the TV better, and we won’t have those pesky buttons to touch…and we won’t kill ourselves trying to climb up the TV stand!  Everybody wins!  Daddy is THE BEST.

After opening the present, we tried to take some pictures in our Stitch outfits.  Aurelia decided to have a momentary tantrum.  During many, many moments of the day, this is exactly what life looks like with two 16-month olds.

We only liked wearing our hat when we could look at ourselves in the mirror.

Then we went on a hike at our favorite spot on Spruce Mountain.  We drove down Mt. Vernon first and saw all the houses decorated for Halloween.

We came home and opened the door to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters (closing and opening the door is another one of our favorite activities now, so it was especially entertaining for us). We also got a special visit from cousin Morgan (aka Mary Poppins)!  She brought mommy macaroons from the Wild Iris!

Avery somehow knew that those little purple foils held something that would be amazingly delicious to eat.  He kept trying to put the entire thing (wrapper and all) in his mouth, so mommy decided to let him have some chocolate (it is Halloween after all!)

We had the PERFECT day!  Our family is the best!

We’re a little late on our 16 month post, but here are the pictures of our 16 month birthday.  We thought it was really fun to sit on top of the pumpkins.

 

Avery even picked his up.  Strong boy.

New things: Aurelia shakes her head “no” to just about any question you ask her.  We are both getting better at imitating words.  So Aurelia can say “ice” and Avery says “zebra” and we try to say “nemo” and “dude”. We LOVE LOVE LOVE Finding Nemo (Avery does the “ah-oo-ah-ee-ah-oo-oo-oo” noise all the time).  We also like Frozen.  We love dancing and we can now show people our muscles (see videos below).  We kiss each other a lot when we are in a good mood.  Otherwise we bite each other (yikes). We have added the wolf sound and the walrus to our animal repertoire.  Avery came up with the walrus sound all by himself (sounds like a big burp).We are now climbing on everything, too.

Look at how handsome this boy is! And so smart! He is sweet and sensitive.

And this girl is such a spritely little thing!  Always full of energy.  She gives the best besos. Also very smart and so pretty!

Sadly for mommy and daddy, our eating skills are coming along rather slowly.  We can’t promise that we got most of our dinner in our mouths…

Hello again!

We had our 15 month check up and shots!  It was a bit traumatic for us, but luckily we are very healthy!  Aurelia weighs in at 18.2 lbs, Avery at 20.5 lbs, and we are the same height!  It was more traumatic for mommy and daddy… to prove it, here we are hamming it up for the camera later the same day.

Aurelia is napping!!!  It must have been a tough morning, because this never happens.  Capturing this moment during the day is like seeing Bigfoot riding a unicorn.

Lately we’ve been very into art!  Here are some of our latest projects:

Making Omi and Papa a Happy Grandparent’s Day card! They deserve it.  They are the best grandparents ever, and always take good care of us.

We are also working on learning our colors.  Mommy colored our plain yogurt that we eat at breakfast so that we could mix (and eat) our colors.

We sometimes get to eat at the table now, although we like to drop things and say “uh-oh”.  And look how well we can eat corn on the cob now!

We got to see our buddy Nico again!  This time we really got to play with him, and it was so much fun.  Nico and Aurelia had a really good time together throwing things in the kitchen.

Aurelia finally got her first pair of sneakers.  So grown up!

There’s nothing better to play with than a good old box!  And a mommy behind you to push you around in it.

And in bigger news, we are really trying to say more words now!  We “say” more please (but just the intonation, not the words), and we try to say “ball”, “bear”, “zebra” and “poo poo”.  🙂  We still prefer to say “uh-oh” for almost every occasion, however.

Here’s another entry just for fun, with some extra pictures about our summer that mom hasn’t had time to include in previous posts.

First of all we are helping mom and dad with their political campaign.  They hosted a meeting for Bernie Sanders supporters, so we were sporting our patriotic clothes.  We are the cutest babies for Bernie you ever did see!

Avery decided to take a patriotic nap, while mommy and Aurelia shopped for food for the meeting.  Mommy made home-made chocolate chip cookies, and we tried some and loved them.

We have had a lot of fun playing with our cousins and running around the park.  We love to see dogs, and Aurelia pants at them.  Morgan went to college and we miss her now!

We know a lot of animals.  Aurelia can tell you what a sheep, goat, cow, horse, elephant, pig, duck, chicken, and monkey say.  Her pig snort and her “neigh” are especially cute.  We will also tell you what a camel says (we spit). Avery does a great monkey noise and pants like a dog too.  And both of us do the kitty noise all the time!  We love Luna.  In fact, when mommy comes home from the store and opens the door, the first thing we say is “meow” because, I guess, we are hoping to see the kitty walking through the door, instead of boring mommy.

We went to the zoo with mommy and Omi and Papa!  We had fun with the splash pad, although we were a bit overwhelmed with the water shooting everywhere.  We really loved the sand pit.

Daddy and Avery at our first dentist appointment.  We did great!  We each have eight chompers and Aurelia has her bottom molar.  The dentist was so nice, and we got balloons.  We even got to watch Finding Nemo playing on the ceiling!

Avery’s shoes were getting tight, so he got his first pair of big people shoes.  Nice kicks!

Here we are in the tube.  Practicing for London in February, when we will get to ride the REAL tube!  We are so excited!  Mar Rubia, here we come to see you!!!  February 4th to the 13th 🙂

We aren’t too sure about the sand.  Apparently even after the ninth time of trying it, sand still tastes bad.

We are exhibiting twin teamwork here.  Avery takes the cards and hands them to Aurelia, who “stacks” (throws) them behind her.

And finally, we are sporting Disney fashion for our 15 month birthday because Omi and Papa and mommy and daddy just told us we are going to spend Christmas day in Disneyland!!!  We are so excited!  We’ve been watching Disney movies to prepare.  We can already thump our hands on the ground when we see a picture of Thumper.  It will be crowded, but we have the chance to relax with Omi and Papa on the beach for a few days after the Disney craze 🙂

On the 9th we turned 14 months, and we were lucky enough to celebrate this with our aunt and cousins.  We even had root beer floats for the first time.  Of course we loved them and demanded more.

 

We’ve been enjoying the summer, going to parks and playing with our ball.  Then we found some baseballs on the field and licked every one of them.  We’ve discovered some new fun in the bath, too.

We headed out for a weekend of beach fun, because it’s summer time and why not?

The beach!  Avery was a little scared of the water so he hung out in the hole daddy dug in the sand.  Aurelia loved the waves and loved running everywhere!  Avery eventually got very excited about chasing seagulls.  We loved the beach!!!
